Carry-on baggage
SriLankan Airlines permits economy class passengers to carry one piece of carry-on baggage. The baggage can weigh a maximum of 7kg with a 115cm dimension. On the other hand, Business class passengers can carry two pieces of carry-on baggage. The baggage can weigh a maximum of 7kg each. Furthermore, the carry-on baggage can be of maximum 115cm size for all passengers. Lastly, all passengers can carry a personal item along with their cabin luggage. This personal item can be either of the following:
- One Laptop
- Overcoat/blanket
- Umbrella
- Walking stick
- Small camera
- One pair of binoculars
- Lay’s handbag or purse
Infants can carry one carry-baggage of maximum 5kg weight with 115cm dimensions.
Checked baggage
SriLankan Airlines permits Business class passengers to carry one piece of checked-in baggage that weighs a maximum of 40kg. Furthermore, Economy class passengers can bring up to 30kg checked-in baggage. In addition, infants can bring baggage of maximum 10kg weight. Lastly, the maximum dimensions is 158cm for checked-in baggage of all passengers. However, infant bags can only be of 115cm dimensions.
Passengers traveling to or from Central, North or South America have different baggage allowance. Business Class passengers checked-in baggage can weigh a maximum 32kg each. Whereas, Economy class passengers’ checked-in baggage can weigh 23kg each, they can also bring two pieces of luggage. Lastly, infancy can carry one piece weighing 23kg.
Excess baggage
If passengers exceed the weight or size allowance of the baggage, they can expect an excess baggage fee. When baggage is over the size allowance, 158cm, an excess baggage fee of USD 50 is applicable. However, the acceptance of the baggage depends on the availability and type of craft. Furthermore, if the weight allowance of the baggage is exceeded then fee is charged based of per KG of weight that exceeds. A fixed rate is charged, the following are oversized baggage fee when traveling from Sri Lanka:

Special/Sporting equipment
SriLankan Airlines permits mobility aids as well as electronic equipment on board. However, some electronic equipment is not allowed. For instance radios, televisions, remote control toys, etc. This is so as to avoid interference with the navigational equipment of the aircraft. Moreover, passengers can carry musical instruments. Passengers can book an extra seat for a bulky musical instrument, the maximum weight can be of 75kg. Lastly, following are the details for the sporting equipment:

Acceptance is subject to;
- The handlebar fixed sideways (at a 90 degree angle) or removed and attached to the frame
- Tires should be deflated and Pedals removed or turned inwards
- Bicycle must be packed in a bicycle box or suitable protective packaging
