Carry-on baggage
Kenya Airways permits passengers to carry baggage in the cabin with them. Moreover, business class passengers can carry 2 pieces of hand baggage with them. This can weigh a maximum 18kgs with 55 x 25 x 35cm dimensions. Furthermore, economy class passengers can carry 1 piece of hand baggage with them. This can weigh the maximum 12kgs with 55 x 25 x 35cm dimensions. In addition to this, all passengers can also carry a personal item. This item may be a handbag, backpack, briefcase, camera, laptop or also 1 duty free shopping bag. Lastly, infants older than 2 years baggage allowance is 1 hand luggage of maximum 12kg.
Checked baggage
The airline permits passengers to carry checked-in baggage. However, this differs according to cabin class and roure. Moreover, look at the table below for details:

Excess baggage
If the baggage of passengers exceeds the allowance then passengers can prepay for excess baggage or they can also buy the excess baggage at the airport. Refer below to the tables for excess baggage fee applicable-

Lastly, if passengers purchase excess baggage and their baggage is heavy then an excess bag + heavy bag fee is applicable.
Prohibited items
Passengers cannot carry the following items in the cabin or hold of the aircraft:
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks, and flares
- Security-type cases/boxes incorporating goods such as lithium batteries or pyrotechnics
- Compressed gases (flammable, non-flammable, or poisonous)
- Oxidizing substances such as bleaching powder and peroxides
- Flammable liquids such as paints and adhesives
- Disabling devices such as mace or pepper sprays, with irritant properties
- Poisons such as arsenic, cyanides, or insecticides
- Radioactive materials
- Corrosive materials such as mercury, acids, alkalis, and wet cell batteries
- Any other substances which present a danger not covered above, such as magnetized, offensive, or irritating materials
- Lighters (butane, absorbed fuel, electric, battery-powered, and novelty lighters)
Passengers cannot carry the following items in the cabin:
- Knives
- Scissors and any other sharp/bladed objects
- Weapons such as whips, baton, or stun gun
- Toys guns/gun shaped items or look-alikes, hand-cuffs
- Sporting equipment such as baseball/cricket bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks, billiard cues
- Devices with spillable batteries
- Aerosols (hair sprays, perfumes, medicines containing alcohol) not exceeding 0.5KG/L per article and 2.0KG/L in total weight
- Baby strollers
- Any other items which are deemed security hazards by local law
- Any other items that resemble or have similar functions to the above items
