Baggage allowance 

Carry-on baggage 

IndiGo permits Economy Class passengers to carry one hand baggage on-board. Moreover, the baggage should be of maximum 7kg weight with 115cm dimensions.. Furthermore, passengers can also carry one personal item. For instance, laptop or briefcase.

 

Checked baggage 

The airline permits passengers to carry checked baggage depending on their intended destination of travel. Moreover, the baggage can be of maximum 158cm dimensions, this is true for passengers. Please refer to the table below for specific details:

Prohibited items

The following items are not allowed in checked or cabin baggage-

  • Compressed gases –
  • Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury
  • Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares, ammunition including blank cartridges, handguns, fire works, pistol caps
  • Flammable liquids and solids 
  • Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides
  • Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials
  • Fish (including other seafood), animals, birds, insects in any form, whether alive and/or dead, and/or frozen and/or dried and/or cooked
  • Anything that possesses and/or is capable of possessing and/or emitting a conspicuous and/or offensive odour
  • Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials
  • Dry cell batteries
  • Knives, scissors, Swiss army knives and other sharp instruments
  • Toy replicas  of firearms and ammunition
  • Weapons such as whips, nan-chakus, baton, or stun gun
  • Electronic devices which cannot be switched off
  • Aerosols and liquids
  • Any other items which are deemed security hazards by local law

 

Sports Equipment  

IndiGo permits passengers to take their sports equipment with them on their next big adventure. Moreover, each passenger can take up to three items and pre-pay the handling fee. FIn addition to this, the fee may differ according to the item and the destination being travelled to. Passengers can carry the following items on board-

  • skiing equipment
  • golf bags
  • Bicycles
  • surf boards
  • snowboards
  • water skis
  • scuba diving equipment
