Aer Lingus overview

Aer Lingus Airline was founded by the Irish government on 15th April 1936. It commenced operation on 27 May 1936. Between 2006 and 2015 it was privatized and currently International Airline Group (IAG) owned it completely. The head office of Aer Lingus is at Dublin Airport. Aer Lingus is owned by IAG but it was a  former member of the Oneworld airline alliance. It left Oneworld airline alliance on 31 March 2007. When Aer Lingus was owned by IAG, it was thought that it would re-enter Oneworld. But further, it was confirmed by the CEO Stephen Kavanagh that it has no plans to rejoin Oneworld.

After the commencement of Aer Lingus airline, it started its first service in between Dublin and Bristol airport. After a few days, it started a second aircraft which is a four-engined biplane de Havilland DH.86 which is termed as Eire. It has a capacity of 14 passengers. You have to know that Aer Lingus airline was established under Air Navigation as the national carrier. It was done under the Transport Act. In 1937, the Irish government via Aer Rianta owned the whole Aer Lingus airline. Dr. J.F. Dempsey who was a chartered accountant was the first General Manager of Aer Lingus airline. In 1937, Dr. J.F. was appointed for the role of General Manager. After spending the journey of 30 years in this field he retired in 1967.

  4. In case of canceling Aer Lingus ticket within 08 - 21 days before departure, you can have a loss of all non-refundable elements* plus 90% of the remaining balance
  5. If you cancel it within 07 days of departure then 100% of the cost of the holiday can be forfeited
